The Dominican Republic’s official tourism website lists banks and authorized exchange offices as places to exchange US dollars and euros. Bank ATMs also offer withdrawals in local currency. Check your own bank’s withdrawal limits and charges before traveling.<\/p>\n

Do not assume every business accepts the same payment methods<\/h2>\n

Businesses in tourist destinations may accept US dollars, although their conversion rate can differ from a bank’s. Ask which currency will be used and what change you will receive before paying.<\/p>\n

Confirm card acceptance with your hotel, transfer provider and any small businesses you plan to visit. Keep a modest amount of pesos for daily expenses instead of relying on a card everywhere.<\/p>\n
